Supporting Youth & Diverse Community Awareness Summer

Supporting Youth and Diverse Community Awareness

Fostering cultural understanding, celebrating diversity, and building bridges across communities through education, dialogue, and collaborative projects that unite Minnesota youth.

About This Program

Program Overview

The Supporting Youth and Diverse Community Awareness program brings together young people from all backgrounds to learn about, appreciate, and celebrate the rich diversity of Minnesota communities. Through education, dialogue, and collaborative action, we build understanding and create lasting connections across cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic lines.

Cultural Education

Participants explore the histories, traditions, and contributions of the many communities that make up Minnesota. Guest speakers, cultural presentations, and immersive experiences help youth develop genuine appreciation for perspectives different from their own. We cover topics including immigration stories, indigenous heritage, religious diversity, and the ongoing work of building an inclusive society.

Dialogue and Understanding

Meaningful conversations are at the heart of this program. Facilitated discussions create safe spaces for youth to share their experiences, ask questions, and listen to others. We address difficult topics including bias, discrimination, and privilege with honesty and compassion, helping participants develop empathy and communication skills.

Community Service Projects

Learning leads to action. Participants work together on service projects that benefit diverse communities across Minnesota. These collaborative efforts build relationships, develop leadership skills, and demonstrate the power of young people working together for positive change.

Youth Ambassador Program

Outstanding participants can become Youth Ambassadors who represent the program at community events, lead workshops for younger students, and serve as bridges between different community groups. Ambassadors receive additional training in facilitation, public speaking, and conflict resolution.

Family and Community Engagement

We invite families and community members to participate in cultural celebrations, dialogue sessions, and service projects. Building connections across generations strengthens the impact of our work and creates lasting change in how communities relate to one another.

Long Term Impact

Graduates of this program become advocates for inclusion and understanding in their schools, workplaces, and communities. They carry forward the skills and relationships developed here, contributing to a more connected and compassionate Minnesota.
