Opioid Prevention
Comprehensive education and awareness program designed to protect Minnesota youth from the dangers of opioid misuse through prevention strategies, peer support, and community engagement.
About This Program
Program Overview
Our Opioid Prevention program is a vital initiative designed to educate and empower young people across Minnesota about the serious risks associated with opioid misuse. Through evidence-based curriculum, interactive workshops, and peer-led discussions, we provide youth with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed decisions and resist peer pressure.
What You Will Learn
Participants gain a deep understanding of how opioids affect the brain and body, the progression from prescription misuse to addiction, and the devastating impact on individuals, families, and communities. We cover topics including recognizing warning signs, understanding the science of addiction, building refusal skills, and knowing how to help a friend in crisis.
Our Approach
We believe prevention works best when it comes from within the community. Our program trains youth ambassadors who become advocates in their schools and neighborhoods. We partner with healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and recovery specialists to provide accurate, up-to-date information. Interactive scenarios and role-playing exercises help participants practice real-world decision making.
Community Impact
Since launching this program, we have reached thousands of young people across Minnesota. Participants report increased awareness of opioid dangers, improved communication with parents and trusted adults, and greater confidence in their ability to make healthy choices. Many go on to become peer educators, multiplying the impact of our work.
Who Should Participate
This program is open to youth ages 12 and older, parents, educators, and community members who want to be part of the solution. No prior knowledge is required. Whether you are looking to protect yourself, support a loved one, or make a difference in your community, this program provides the tools you need.
